Everything you need to know about getting outside, earning points, and making the most of your roams.
WeRoam is an app that turns your everyday journeys into points, levels and positive impact. Whether you're walking to the shops, riding to work, or heading out for a weekend wander, WeRoam helps you log your movement and be part of a more active, greener local community.
WeRoam focuses on real, everyday movement — walking, wheeling (wheelchairs, pushchairs, mobility aids), and cycling. It's designed to encourage you to leave the car at home and undertake everyday journeys by foot or wheel.
No. You can use WeRoam just with your smartphone. If you do have a wearable (like a smartwatch or fitness tracker), you can connect it to make tracking easier — but it's completely optional.
WeRoam uses the record feature in the app along with your phone's GPS (and wearables, if connected) to record when you walk, wheel, or ride. You're always in control of what you track.
Roam Points are earned for moving. You collect them by logging journeys, exploring your local area, collecting WeRoam markers, and taking part in challenges. Points help you level up and celebrate your progress.
10 points per minute of activity · 10 points per day you're active for 30+ mins · 30 points per minute for recorded commutes (walk, cycle, wheel to school, work or shops) · 300 points for entering a challenge · 1,000 points for completing a challenge · Variable points for Roam Markers
Markers are real-world locations you can 'collect' when you pass them during your journey. They're designed to encourage exploration, make movement more fun, and reward curiosity. Think of them as little nudges to keep you roaming.
Yes! To start a roam and collect points, press Start. If you have a connected wearable, just track your activity as normal.
If you're using the in-app record feature, start your roam first and then navigate to the Record page. Once recording begins you won't be able to go back to the roaming page until you finish. For both options, you can pocket your phone and stop roaming to end your session.
Yes — recording tracks your time, distance, and speed. If you close and reopen the app mid-activity, wait a few seconds for GPS to re-register. Once it does, distance and speed will appear and you can press Finish to save your activity.
Tap your profile picture (top right of the app). You'll find My Progress, My Rewards, and My Profile. You can view your overall level and check any rewards available to redeem.
Challenges are short (weekly) or longer (monthly) achievable goals — like hitting a certain number of active minutes over a set time. They're inclusive, low-pressure, and motivating rather than competitive. Some are local, some seasonal, and some are just for fun.
WeRoam has over 60 levels to unlock. Check your progress by tapping your profile picture. When you unlock a new level, you'll receive an email notification. Some levels also have rewards to redeem.

Only if you want it to be. WeRoam is built around personal progress and community impact, not leaderboards or pressure. You can enjoy it solo or alongside others.
Yes, WeRoam is completely free to download and use. The core app is always free.
WeRoam is designed to be lightweight and efficient. GPS will use some battery (as with any tracking app), but it's optimised for everyday use rather than long, intensive sessions.
Yes. WeRoam only collects data needed to run the app, your personal data is never sold, and location data is used to power tracking and markers — not to track you. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
WeRoam is for everyone over 18, any fitness level or ability. It's especially designed for people who want to move a bit more, make greener travel choices, and feel more connected to their local area. Every journey counts.
WeRoam is launching locally first, with pilots in selected areas of Kent. New towns and regions will be added over time — your roaming helps shape where we go next.
By encouraging short journeys on foot, by wheel, or by bike, WeRoam helps reduce car dependency, cut emissions, and support cleaner, healthier communities. Small journeys add up to big change.
